Wexford duo in festive spirits with charity song

-

Wexford businessman, keen musician and sometime astronomer Kevin Breen and his brother-in-law Daragh Breathnach are in high spirits, having just launched a charity festive single that Kevin says will get everybody’s attention, young and old.

The pair called themselves ‘The Festive Spirits’ and hope their song ‘That’s when you know it’s Christmas’ will make loads of money for homeless charity Focus Ireland.

‘It’s a rollicking, raucous, rumbunctious roll call of festive banter set to music,’ said Kevin, who recorded the track at his home studio in Coolree.

‘It’s almost like a child’s song. It’s very infectious,’ he said.

Kevin said Daragh was the singer and he was the guitarist, although he confessed to singing a few words, perhaps more than a few, on the track, along with his nephews Oscar and Soedin.

He said it took him only a few minutes to work out some chords to accompany Daragh’s lyrics for the song which were drawn up a year ago, and refined and extended last August into what he hopes will be a three-and- a-half minute hit.

So far, ‘That’s when you know it’s Christmas’ is available on Spotify, Google Play and will soon be on iTunes.

Kevin said homelessness was a huge issue in Ireland and when the pair approached Focus Ireland, they received a very positive reaction.

He said anyone who listened to the song would very quickly realise that Christmas is (almost) here.
