1ENNISCORT­HY BIG CHRISTMAS SWITCH ON: Christmas is officially coming to Enniscorth­y this Saturday as the town is transforme­d into a winter wonderland for the turning on of the Christmas lights. Kids big and small are invited to help the man himself, Santa Claus, illuminate the town at a special ceremony in Market Square, kicking off at 6 p.m. Santa will be joined by his crazy Elves and all your favourite Disney and Frozen Characters. There will also be a limited number of free bubble wands for the children along with a number of free Children’s Christmas Workshops in the Athenaeum. They will take place from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Places are limited, so to reserve a place in the workshops, call 0539233540. Santa’s Enchanted Castle will also be welcoming visitors at Enniscorth­y Castle on the day and places are filling up fast. 2SANTA’S NORTH Pole Experience opens in Wexford town this Friday, promising to transport the family from Wexford’s Quay to the wonder of the North Pole, with magic and fun around every snowy corner. A new addition to the Wexford Winterland festival this year, Santa’s North Pole Experience will guide the family through the Magic Forest with snow covered Christmas trees glistening in the midnight moonlight. Kids will get to explore the Elves Village, meeting the elves and, finally, Santa Claus! The Wexford People’s Wexford On Ice is also open now. 3THE VIKINGS OF WEXFORD: North Wexford Historical Society’s annual Dr Aidan Breen memorial lecture takes place in Gorey Library this evening, Tuesday, November 28, at 7.30 p.m. This year’s guest speaker is Dr Linda Doran who will discuss the Vikings of Wexford. The evening will begin with a wine reception at 7 p.m. Entry is free for members, and a €5 charge applies for nonmembers. New members are most welcome.

4CHRISTMAS CRAFT FARI: Wexford Arts Centre’s Christmas Craft Exhibition and Fair will be launched on Saturday at noon by Mayor of Wexford, Cllr. Jim Moore. The annual event will feature work from members of the Co. Wexford Craft Trail. Exhibitors include: Ceadogan Rugs, Paul Maloney, Mairead Stafford, Patricia Howard, Annette Whelan, Terry the Weaver, Patsy Flood O’Connor, Mairead Cairbre, Gilly Thomas, Dainius, Lina Varnelis, and new Craft Trail members Rebecca Homfray and Bianca DiVito. Works range in price from €10 upwards. The fair will open daily from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

5ENNISCORT­HY GOSPEL CHOIR CONCERT: The award winning Enniscorth­y Gospel Choir are set to fill the beautiful surroundin­gs of The Presentati­on Centre with song with a special concert this Friday night at 8 p.m. Rehearsals have been in full swing in recent weeks and the choir are set to be joined by a fantastic line-up of guests for what promises to be a great evening of music with the some 25 strong choir. 6Alison Spittle, star of new RTE television comedy show ‘Nowhere Fast’ which has been entertaini­ng viewers all over the country, will return to the Wexford Comedy Club upstairs in Macken’s of the Bullring on Thursday, November 30 at 8pm. Alison is a self-confessed worrier. She worries so much she decided to write a show called ‘Worrier Princess’ which she will present to her Macken’s audience. Scaip an scéal a chairde agus bígí linn. There will be a Pop Up Gaeltacht in the Parkside pub in Camolin, Co. Wexford on November 28. It will be on from 8 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. This will be a social, informal event for anyone who would like to use their cúpla focal. A great evening is promised; we’ll have great craic.
