Mary Rothwell wishes to thank everyone who contributr­ed so generously to the proceeds of her book of prose and verse, ‘autumn Leaves’. €1,920 was presented to St Aidan’s Day Care Centre, Gorey on Friday, November 10.

SANTA’S VISIT

Ballycanew Lights Committee would like to announce the arrival of Santa on Sunday, December 3, at 6 p.m. for the big switch on of our new Christmas Tree. Also Santa has left a Mailbox for the kids to post their Christmas letter on the night.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR

A Christmas craft fair/bazaar will be held in Ballycanew National School on Sunday, December 3, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tea or coffee and mince pies. School choir will be performing, cake sale. Craft stalls. There will be activities for the children to do. The Ballycanew Parents Assocaitio­n would love you to come and join them in an evening of festive fun for all the family.

Any donations of cakes/buns to sell on the parents’ associatio­n stall would be greatly appreciate­d. They can be drop to the school office on Friday before 3 p.m. or dropped to the school on Sunday, December 3, from 2 p.m.

Congratula­tions to the November 18 winner of split-thepot, Dermot Long. who received €266. Thank you for your continued support.

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot; winning numbers were 1, 4, 15 and 22; two matched three numbers to each receive €100: Wings, Brendan c/o Goslins.

Results of whist drive held in hall on Friday night November 17: Gents first Aidan Gahan, second Eilish Murphy, third Beta Gahan; Gents Half Time Eileen Furlong and Stasia Redmond; Ladies first Alice Gibney, second Maureen Evans, third Anne Roche; Ladies Half Time Breda O’Connor. Whist drive every Friday night in the hall.
