GAA CLUB NOTES

Leinster Champions: Neither the club nor Wexford get to call themselves that very often. So, a big congratulations to the adult footballers on bringing a Leinster Cup to the parish and indeed to the county. With Ballyboughal from Dublin overcome in the Leinster final, the all-Ireland semi-final is on the weekend of January 20/21. The opposition is the Micheál Galvey club from Roscommon. Santy may be good, but winning is better.

Speaking of winners, Sunday, December 10, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Sportshall, that will be the location of the biggest number of Cups, Shields and medals that were ever in Kilanerin at the same time. That is when we hold the celebration and presentation to every team, boys and girls, Kilanerin and the Rock, as we congratulate a very successful year, the first of more to come. From under sixes to adults. Club and schools. Heros all. Everyone in the community are very welcome.

One winner we are still seeking is for the lotto jackpot. It now stands at €3,400. The next two draws are on December 4 and 18. The recent numbers were 1, 9, 15 and 17. There were two match-three winners.

Michael Darcy was the bearer of great news during the week when he informed us on the outcome of the Capital Sports Grants allocation. Kilanerin are to get a grant of €53,500 towards the cost of upgrading the floodlights to hurling match standard and Tara Rocks are to get a grant of 10€6,000 towards the building of dressing rooms and sports hall. The clubs have to raise the significant balance. More progress in the community.
