CHRISTMAS RAFFLE

Lines for the Christmas Raffle will be on sale in the church porch before and after Mass on Saturday evening and Sunday mornings. Lines cost €2 each or three for €5. The prizes on offer are: a portable gas heater, a 5l can of Roundup, McCauley’s Chemist hamper, bottle of brandy, bottle of whiskey, voucher for Murt Walsh Menswear, hot air hair styler, 5l engine oil, Applegreen voucher, two bottles of wine, Leisure Max voucher, Book Café voucher, bottle of white wine, bottle of red wine, tin of sweets and the last prize, the 16th. is a tin of biscuits.

The draw will take place on December 17 after 11 a.m. Mass and all proceeds will go towards St Cormac’s Church funds.

CHOIR PRACTICE

Practice for the Christmas Choir will be held in St Cormac’s church every Monday evening at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in.

SOCCER NEWS

On Saturday the 25th. the under-16s lost by 1-2 to St Leonards. Despite playing very well and scoring four goals, unfortunat­ely three of them were ruled offside. Jim Finn the ‘man-of-thematch’ was also the goal scorer. The under-12s made sure of their league points, beating Courtown Hibs by 7-0 on a bitterly cold morning. Evan Dunne got two of the goals and Jack Ellix, Leon Doran, Mossy Walsh and Abram O’Neill got one apiece.

The ladies’ team had their third win in a row the following day, beating Wexford Bohemians by 2-1. Vivian Gahan and Claudia Doyle scored and Rachel Breen was ‘player-of-the-match’. The men’s ‘A’ team also won, beating Wexford Celtic at home. Despite superb football in the first half, they only lead by 1-0 at the break, a great goal from James Sweeney. Mick Sweeney double the lead early in the second half and Johnny Fitzgerald ensured the victory with a fine goal shortly afterwards. Brian O’Loughlin was the star player for the ‘A’ team.

The ‘B’ team were unfortunat­e to lose 3-4 to Ferns after a tough fascinatin­g game. James Gahan, Mark Walsh and Dean Fortune were the goal scorers.

MINISTERS OF THE WORD

On Thursday night at the 8 p.m. Vigil Mass, Aodhagán Swords is the reader on duty, while James Breen will be reading at the Mass on Thursday morning. On Sunday, December 9, Catherine Whelan is the reader at the Vigil Mass while Gaye Gahan will be reading at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning.

On Thursday, December 7, Georgina Gahan is the Minister for the Eucharist at the Vigil Mass at 8 p.m. with Dorothy Hall helping at the Mass on Friday the eighth., the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Geraldine Doyle is the Minister for the Eucharist at the Vigil Mass on Saturday while Catherine Gahan will be on duty at the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning.

LOTTO DRAW

As well as a jackpot of €3,450, there will also be many seasonal prizes on offer in the next Monageer-Boolavogue GAA lotto draw. This will take place in the club complex in Monageer at 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday next, December 12. In the last draw, Rose Rath of Killabeg matched three of the numbers drawn and scooped the €160 match-three prize. Tickets can be had from all club members, local businesses or purchased in the clubhouse on the night of the draw. The ballad was sung by Faith Masterson and Shona Proctor-Laird.

RECENT BIRTH

Congratula­tions to proud new parents Elizabeth (Murphy, Monawillin­g) and Andrew Maher, Clonmore, Co. Tipperary on the birth of their baby boy, Fionn Andrew, in St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny, on November 27.

ART WINNERS

For the second year in a row a pupil from Scoil Mochua has won first prize in the Enniscorth­y Credit Union Art Competitio­n, on the theme ‘Dreams are made of –‘. Well done to Finn O’Kane, Senior Infants and to Anna Roche from Second Class, who claimed third prize in the same competitio­n.

FOREVER FIT

Forever Fit Wexford holds two Fitness Classes every Friday morning in Oulart Community Centre. These classes are suitable for all levels and cost only eight euro per class. No advance payment-just pay-as-you-go. Dancefit begins at 10 a.m. and Active 50+ at 11.30 a.m. Please call Amanda for more details (087 9713339).

SENIOR CITIZENS

The annual senior citizens Party will take place in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, January 14. Please inform any committee member (Seán Byrne, Eddie O’Grady etc) if you know any newcomers to the area who should receive an invitation to the party.

CARDIAC FIRST RESPONSE

A meeting will be held in Oulart Community Centre, on Tuesday, December 5, beginning at 7.30 p.m., with a view to setting up a Cardiac Response Unit. Contact Vickie Dunne (087 7780749) for further informatio­n.

CRAFT TOGETHER

Every Tuesday at 8 p.m., a group of people interested in practising and learning crafts such as knitting, crochet, embroidery etc, meet in Marty’s Bar. All crafts and craft practition­ers are welcome to drop in and join the group.

SPLIT-THE-POT

The latest winner of Scoil Mochua’s split-the-pot was Laura Redmond, who won €110. The next draw will be held on Monday, December 11. Entry envelopes are available from local businesses. Thank you for your continued support.

SCHOOL CALENDAR

The Scoil Mochua 2018 Calendar is available to purchase from the school, Corrigan’s Spar and Oulart post office. The calendar would be a lovely Christmas gift and a nice keepsake for years to come. The price is eight euro for one, €15 for two calendars and €20 for three.

SCHOOL CONCERT

Scoil Mochua will present a Christmas Concert on Wednesday, December 20.

Staff and pupils are busily preparing for this event which will take place two days before the school closes for the Christmas vacation.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA will hold its AGM on Friday, January 12. Details will be published later. The Coiste na nÓg endof-year meeting will be held in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, December 17, starting at 8 p.m.

All club members, adult and underage mentors, coaches, parents/guardians are encouraged to attend.

COOKERY DEMONSTRAT­ION

Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who supported the cookery demonstrat­ion which was their main fundraisin­g event for this year.

Thanks to everyone who sold and bought tickets, who advertised in the cookery booklet and to the local businesses who added so much to the night with their lovely stalls and products. To those who came along on the night we hope you enjoyed it.
