TIDY TOWNS

Congratula­tions to Kilanerin Tidy Towns, who won best environmen­tally aware and presented town/village in Wexford at the Wexford co council awards ceremony 2017. Congratula­tions to the Elms, who won Best Environmen­tally Aware and Presented Housing Estate in Wexford both awards won for a second time. Congratula­tions also to the Gap Tidy towns and Heritage, who won best new entry.

These awards are a fitting tribute to for all the voluntary hard work undertaken by these committees who are to be highly commended for their efforts Well done to all.

KILANERIN ICA

Yogalates continues on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in Kilanerin hall cost €6.

FLORAL GALA

Come along to Shamrock Hall Kilanerin on Tuesday, December 12, at 7.30 p.m. to enjoy Kilanerin’s Christmas Floral Gala. Demonstrat­or Margaret Woodbyrne will share ideas and tips and wow you with all her creations. Christmas Floral designs will be raffled on the night. All proceeds go to help fund the children’s tour buses and school funds. Admission is €10 and will include some light refreshmen­ts.

GAA CLUB NOTES

There was no jackpot winner in the recent lotto draw. There were three match-three winners. They were Donal Buggy, Matty Forde and Conor Kinsella. They share €200 between them.

All officers were returned for 2018 at the recent Club AGM. At the boys’ underage AGM, the chair went to Séamus Hughes and the secretary position to P J Gethings.

First lady was Breda O’Connor, second lady was Eamon Hayes, third lady was Deirdre Power and half time lady was shared by Mary Sinnott and Nancy Forde. First gent was Noel Carter second gent was Ross Bailey, third gent was Cyril Byran and half time lady was Sadie Mordaunt. Raffle winners were Mary Ellen Askins, Alice Gibney and Seán Murphy. Christmas Whist is on Wednesday, December 13, at 8.30 p.m.

COFFEE MORNING

There will be a Christmas coffee morning, cake sale and raffle on Sunday, December 17, 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. in Kilanerin Hall. Proceeds will go towards Kilanerin Church heating. Donations of cakes and produce can be left into the hall on Sunday morning after 10.30 a.m.

GET FIT

A note for everyone’s diary – ROCKeratio­n Transforma­tion is starting on Tuesday, January 2, Get fit, loose weight and met new friends. In aid of Tara Rock strictly come dancing. More details in the next few weeks.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY

John Kavanagh will give a presentati­on on the timeline of the Coolgreany Evictions and on the work done to date on the book which is hoped to be published next year on Thursday, December 14, at 8 p.m. in the May Byrne trusty House Coolgreany. If you would like to get involved in the book or have any documents or artefacts relating to the evictions please come along. Admission €3 for non-members.

Thanks to Kevin Lee, who gave a great and detailed talk about Coolattin Estate and Emigration. Membership is now due cost is €20 for the year.
