Carton’s Daybreak was shut
CHRISTMAS came early for Nuala Cooke from Riverchapel as she won the chance to do a Christmas trolley dash around the Lidl store in Gorey. Her granddaughter Chloe was nominated to do the dash for her, and in just two minutes, she managed to grab €380 worth of goodies. Each Lidl store in the country sold €1 raffle tickets, and one lucky customer was given the chance to do the dash. The promotion was part of the company’s fundraising efforts for Barrettstown. Customers across Wexford raised €8,857, contributing to the national total of €260,720. IT has emerged a second premises in county Wexford was issued a closure order from the HSE under the Food Safety Authority (FSAI) Act.
Locals were mystified when Carton’s Daybreak in Camolin shut up shop out of the blue on Wednesday, December 6 until Saturday, December 9, and, when contacted, Conor Carton said it was due to ‘building work’.
The enforcement closure order was released online by FSAI late last week.
The news of Carton’s comes after the release of a report from FSAI about the closure of Iceland in Gorey on November 15, which soon reopened on November 27 after a thorough clean and repair works.
An environmental health officer from the HSE issued the enforcement order and the report found that there was ‘prolific evidence of rodent droppings observed on and below shelving.’
