Transform your life at The Rock

- FINTAN LAMBE

THOSE who fancy making 2018 the year when they get off the couch, get fit, and lose weight, are being encouraged to sign up to ‘Rockeration Transformation’.

The six-week programme, organised by Angie Dooley, pictured right, and Paddy Bolger as part of the

Strictly Come Dancing fundraising efforts, will involve weekly weigh ins and regular ‘walk and talks.’

The good news is the weigh ins are done in private and are completely confidential. ‘This is for people to challenge themselves,’ said Angie.

The first weigh in is in the Bunker Bar on Tuesday, January 2, at

7.30 p.m. The cost for the six week programme is €25, or €5 nightly.

Weigh ins will be held weekly, and blood pressure and BMI will be measured on the first and final night. Proceeds go to the Rock community field fund.

A short motivational talk will be held after each weigh in. Community walks will be held at the Rock pitch after the talk on Tuesdays, and on Sunday mornings. The first speaker is Anne Dixon, who will talk about food plans and nutrition.

‘The walks are to help motivate those participating, and to encourage them to walk and talk, and to get to know each other,’ said Angie.

The Rock will take on Kilanerin in Strictly Come Dancing. The Rock semi-final will be held in Kilanerin Community Hall on Saturday, February 24.
