Lions Club seeking submissions

-

THE COUNTDOWN to the 2018 Annual Lions Club art exhibition has begun, with submissions now being accepted at Wexford Arts Centre.

The open submission exhibition invites local artists, of all ages and skill levels, to submit their work. The exhibition celebrates local talent and offers a platform for artists at various stages of their career, giving many a chance to exhibit in a gallery space.

As has become the norm, the theme has been left entirely open. The open brief allows participants the freedom to create exciting and original artwork and to tell their own stories.

The Young Lions gallery will also feature this year and invites young artists to experiment with all types of mediums and objects. As the Lions Club International celebrated its centenary in 2017, a Perpetual Children’s Trophy will be awarded to a Young Lion for a work that explores the history of, or that reflects the aims and ethos of the organisation.

Interested artists are asked to complete an application form and collect either a watercolour paper or canvas from Wexford Arts Centre. Applications are limited to one per person. Sulptural works will not be presented this year. The deadline for submissions is Friday, February 23. Entry is €10 and works should be unframed.

The exhibition will run from March 3 to 21. It will be launched on March 10 at 3 p.m.
