TURKEY TROT

Kildavin-Clonegal GAA club will hold its annual Turkey Trot on St Stephen’s Day at 11 a.m. The walk will start and finish at St Brigid’s Hall, Clonegal with people been asked to assemble at 10.45 a.m. to sign in with walk commencing at 11 a.m.

CONGRATULA­TIONS

Congratula­tions to Egan’s Pub of Parkbridge, Clonegal, who won the Bord na Mona’s cosiest fireside country competitio­n. After a close race by public votes, Egan’s bar celebrated their win by hosting their very own hearth session.

The scene was set by Catapult, with some lovely hearth session memorabili­a and special lighting; TV3 media crew captured some spectacula­r performanc­es by three famous bands, Little Hours, Stephanie Rainey and Ye Vagabonds. Stephanie Rainey commented that Egan’s bar was packed with lovely people and it was her warmest place to play in so far.

It was a splendid celebratio­n of those warmer winter moments with friends and family. Mary and Larry Egan would like to thank all those who voted for them.

SCHOOL CLOSURES

Clonegal and Kildavin National School will reopen in the New Year, Monday, January 8.

CHRISTMAS SERVICES

Christmas Services for St Brigid’s Church, Clonegal as follows: Christmas Eve; 6.30 p.m. and Christmas Day; 10 a.m. St Lazerian’s Church, Kildavin: Christmas Eve; 9 p.m. and Christmas Day; 11.30 a.m.

COMMUNITY CLUB NIGHT

On December 29 Kildavin-Clonegal GAA Club host a Community Club Night, for all past present and future members and supporters. The event will take place in Conway’s, Kildavin, kicking off at 9 p.m. Music will be by DJ Jimmy Murray and finger food will be served. There is no admission charge and the club hopes that everybody who can will come along to experience that sense of community that the GAA is famous for.

BUNCLODY LIBRARY

Bunclody Library will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, at 10.30 a.m.
