Gorey’s shield win
Taghmon also take badminton title
WEXFORD COUNTY badminton held their mid-season tournament, the shield, in Ramsgrange Community School recently.
The tournament comprised the fifth and sixth divisions, with two teams out in the fifth division, Taghmon and Gorey.
Some excellent games of badminton were played and in the end a talented Gorey team came out on top.
The Gorey team featured Un Kyu, Seamus Clince, Seán Barnes, Sorim Park, Maryse Diaz and Louise Howe, while Taghmon were represented by John Cogley, Aquino Thomas, Mickey O’Regan, Caitríona Walsh, Martina Cogley and Margaret O’Regan.
The sixth division had three teams taking part - Taghmon, Gorey and Clonard.
There was some very exciting badminton played, with Taghmon crowned as deserving winners.
The Taghmon team featured Michael Carroll, Mickey O’Regan, Dan Rossiter, Danielle Somers, Ann Nolan and Libby O’Brien.
On the Gorey team were Kyle Gammell, Lorcan Fealey, Karim Boukhima, Bethany Trankner, Veronica Clarke and Leah Canavan, while Clonard were represented by Colin Ward, Ted Mangan, Clem Daly, Lisa Penwell, Jackie McKenna and Kerry Doyle.
Well done to all who took part. It was a smashing day of badminton.
