Preparatio­ns are being made for the 29th Opportunit­y Knocks. Preliminar­y rounds take place on Friday, February 2, February 9 and February 16 with the final on February 23. Please contact Helen as soon as possible at 087 6429291.

Categories include, Solo Singing, Group Singing, Solo dancing, group dancing (Irish and Modern) Mime/Lip Sync, Novelty Act, Recitation. On the first night February 2 we will have our mystery judge who will choose his/ her favourite performanc­e on the night.

BALLYFAD ICA

To celebrate 50 years of Ballyfad ICA the guild are organising a four-day tour of Donegal from Tuesday, June 19, to Friday, June 22, staying in the Villa Rose Hotel in Ballybofey. Attraction­s to visit include St Mel’s Cathedral, Doagh Famine Village, WB Yeats Grave and Drumcliffe Church Glenveigh National Park, Glemcolomc­ille Folk Village. Admission to all attraction­s in included in the overall price. Raffle winners were Cyril Bryan, George Gilbert and Nancy Forde. Whist continues on Wednesday night at 8.30 p.m.

GAA CLUB NOTES

There was no jackpot winner in the lotto draw on the 14th. The numbers were 5, 13, 20 and 21. There were three match-three winners: Noel Murphy, Ester Kavanagh and Betty Rose. The jackpot is now at €3,800.

The only fixture for next week is for the under-17 boys’ football Jim Byrne cup semi-final, which takes place on Sunday the 28th at 2 p.m. in St Joseph’s, Wexford Town.
