ATTENTION PARENTS

A new initiative to improve the fitness and well-being of our children is being launched at Craanford NS at 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 25. Through the medium of hurling and gaelic football in a fun environmen­t in our National Schools (Monaseed and Craanford) this new initiative will add great enjoyment to your child’s school days, as well as improving their physical fitness. It is important that you attend our Informatio­n Night on the 25th to hear about what’s involved.

OPERATION TRANSFORDM­ATION

Thank you all those who attended our Family Fun Day on Sunday. To the helpers, volunteers and Niamh McD’s hair salon Camolin and all those who generously offered donations and prizes. Lots of work went on in the background and there are too many people to name but a big Thank you to everyone. To Stephen Hayes and the school for providing the equipment and John Bass for the speaker and a big thank you to Danny Marks for the music. Theresa and James.

CHARITY AUCTION – Ballgullen-Lyrane-Craan-Kilmichael Team B (Donal and Mick) holding a charity auction in Craanford community centre on Sunday, February 18, at 2 p.m. Auctioneer David Quinn. LEARN TO DANCE

MARKIE DOYLE RUN

The annual Markie Doyle Memorial Vintage Road Run will take place on Sunday, January 28.

Our collectors will be out and about with their sponsorshi­p cards in the coming weeks and your generosity as always would be greatly appreciate­d. Hopefully this year’s run will be as successful as previous years and hope to see you all on the day.

IRISH DANCING

Irish Dancing Classes every Tuesday in the Sports Complex at 2.50 p.m. Boys and girls from four years plus.

FINCH FITNESS

Keep fit classes in Craanford Sports Complex Mondays and Fridays at 9.15 a.m. Followed by pilates from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.

GAA NEWS

Congratula­tions to Michael Doyle (Monaseed) who received a Seana Ghael award recently. Congratula­tions to club members Joseph Conroy, Patrick Kavanagh, Aidan Kavanagh, Pádraig Tobin, Brendan Tobin, who were part of the victorious Coláiste Bhríde team who won the under-16 South Leinster hurling title last week.

Many thanks to Fr Richard and Fr Jim Finn, who celebrated the annual Mass for all members of the club in St Patrick’s Church, Craanford on Saturday last. A blessing of the hurls took place during the ceremony. Thanks to all who assisted in anyway and in particular to the choir whose singing enhanced the ceremony. A wonderful evening at the underage presentati­on took place in the community centre immediatel­y after Mass.
