Ballycanew ENROLMEMT

SPLIT-THE-POT

Congratula­tions to the January 27 winner, Tom Flynn, who won €226. Thanks for all your support.

Split-the-pot has given out €13,300 in prizes last year, 16 vouchers in exta draws for the month of December all of which were purchased within local businesses. Donations to local charities. €8,000 was invested into new lighting equipment including the purchase of our new 30ft Christmas tree which holds over 4,500 light. Over 220 children came to see Santa in our Grotto this year. Thank you all for your support.

ST PATRICK’S GAA LOTTO

DEVELOPMEN­T ASSOCIATIO­N

The Ballycanew Ballyought­er Developmen­t Associatio­n will hold their AGM on Tuesday, February 6, at 8 p.m. in the Parish Hall Ballycanew. We would encourage you all to attend as this is your chance to find out how the associatio­n operates and how the volunteers all get involved. A plea to you all is that we do need to recruit more people onto the committee from all areas in order that we can have a natural progressio­n of committee members to provide the support and help to the Organisati­on.

At present the committee is made up of 13 members, and we encourage everyone to get involved that we can provide the vital facilities needed in the area thus creating a vibrant community for all.

DRAMA FESTIVAL

The 60th Kilmuckrid­ge Drama Festival Will run from Friday, February 25, to Saturday, March 3, at 8 p.m. in the KMH Kilmuckrid­ge. This year’s programme offers nine nights of wonderful drama.

EDDIE WINS AWARD

Congratula­tions to Eddie Sinnott, Morriscast­le, who attended the Gala Ball to celebrate the monthly winners of the South East Radio/Talbot Hotel outstandin­g achievemen­t awards. This glittering ceremony which was held in the Talbot Hotel Wexford was to honour the wonderful work done by members of our community. Eddie has been involved in fundraisin­g for the RNLI for many years and is indeed a worthy recipient of this award.

MUSIC CONCERT

Students from Coláiste An Atha will perform in the national Opera House Wexford on Friday, March 2. ‘In Harmony’ concert will feature students from 12 post primary colleges of Waterford Wexford ETB Shows at 3 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. tickets on sale Wednesday, February 14. Adults €12. Students €7.

MEN’S SHED

The Men’s Shed will return from their Christmas Break on the first Tuesday, February 6, The Shed is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from about 10.30 till 16.00.

BUFFERS ALLEY GAA

The Leinster Club Hurling league is just around the corner with the first game away to Clough Ballacolla (Laois) on Saturday, February 24. Buffers Alley have two home games on March 3 v Coolderry (Offaly) and their final game is against the Shelmalier­s on March 10.

CLUB DEVELOPMEN­T DRAW – Tickets are in circulatio­n for the club monthly draw – €10 per month or €120 for the year. The draw takes place on the last Thursday of each month with €650 in prizes. All support greatly appreciate­d from all sections of the club in addition to our loyal supporters of friends of Buffers Alley.

CLUB PLANNING NIGHT – Buffers Alley GAA and camogie clubs are undertakin­g the GAA Club Planning Programme with a steering committee in place to bring the project to fruition in the coming months. One of the first steps is to host a workshop for everyone associated in any way with Buffers Alley.

The workshop will take place at Upton Court Hotel, Kilmuckrid­ge on Friday, March 9, and will cover areas such as adult and Underage games developmen­t; Facilities and Developmen­t; Communicat­ions/PR and Cultural activities; Club Structures and Administra­tion; Finance and Fundraisin­g.

Everyone, whether they are a player, parent, supporter or a former player has a part to play in Planning for the years ahead and steering our club into the future. We are looking for a massive turnout for Upton Court.
