Gorey Night Run takes place this Thursday

-

THE annual Gorey Night Run takes place this Thursday evening at 7.30pm.

Organisers of the event are calling on all Gorey town residents to come out and cheer on all runners and walkers taking part in the third annual Gorey Night Run. This year the run is the showcase event of the Freedom Fit Festival in Gorey. The night run is being organised to raise money for North Wexford Hospice.

John Hegarty, one of the organisers said: ‘The response to this year’s run surpasses previous years and we are on target to even exceed last year’s numbers. We are expecting a really good atmosphere at the start and finishing area around the Civic Centre and Library but it would be great if people all along the route can come out to cheer and encourage all walkers and runners taking part in the event.

‘We would also like to remind motorists that there will be temporary traffic delays around the town from 7.30 p.m. until 8.30 p.m. on the night. We would ask for patience from all drivers at these times and to please follow the stewards instructions for everyone’s safety.

‘These delays will be very short as the run passes by so people are encouraged to simply enjoy the spectacle and encourage those taking part in what has become the biggest annual charity run in North Wexford.’

The traffic restrictions are as follows: Main Street 7.30 p.m. - 7.40 p.m.; Fort Road 7.35 p.m. - 7.45 p.m., Scholar’s walk 7.40 p.m. - 8 p.m.; Craanford Road/ Monument 7.40 p.m. - 8.10 p.m.; Paul Funge Boulevard 7.50 p.m. - 8.30 p.m.; The Avenue 7.30 p.m.- 8.30 p.m.
