ROWING CLUB AGM

SMART FITNESS
Smart Fitness continues each Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7 p.m. and on Friday morning s at 10.45 a.m. in Galbally Hall. There is a beginners session ‘Get Fit Swinging’ on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. This is suitable for total beginners and those with a basic fitness level. They have a seven-week weightloss challenge running at the moment. A new Saturday morning Bootcamp takes place at 10.30 a.m. for one hour training and a cuppa or a healthy shake afterwards. BREE YOUTH CLUB TRIPS
The Senior Youth Club Trip will be to Carlingford on July 15 to July 16. Price is €110. This will include an evening meal, breakfast and lunch and three activities. A payment plan of paying €5 each week will be set up for those interested in going on the trip. The Junior Trip will be to Clara Lara. A payment plan for this will also be set up. Price is €40 and this includes bus journey and admission to the park. Permission slips to be returned as soon as possible.
MACRA NEWS
Well done to the Bree Macra Capers team which took part in the all-Ireland Finals in Mallow, Co Cork on Saturday night, February 3. The Bree Show, representing Wexford and Leinster, was first on stage of six very entertaining shows. There was a great applause when the Bree show was announced in third place and when Sinéad Doyle received the Best Producer Award. Well done to the cast of Johanna Wickham, Ciara McKelvie, Cait Doyle, Sinéad Doyle, Kasey Doyle, Eleanor Bolger, Kate Byrne, Niamh Cloke Rochford, James Parle, Tadhg Harrington, Conor Long, Bill Harrington, Fionn Rochford and Conor Byrne.

RACE NIGHT
Davidstown PS parents’ association will host a fundraising race night on Saturday night, March 10, in the Millennium Bar, Davidstown.
Members of the parents’ association/Organising Committee are currently busy organising the event and are selling ‘horses’, race sponsorship and advertisement space. Full details and information available from the school or any member of the parents’ association. As this is our last big fundraiser of the year all support would be greatly appreciated. The funds raised will go to towards the ‘School Painting Fund’. A great night’s fun guaranteed.
DINNER DANCE
The Davidstown-Courtnacuddy Ladies’ Football and camogie club are celebrating their 10th Anniversary with a dinner dance on Saturday, February 17, in the Riverside Park Hotel at 7 p.m. Tickets are available from all club members and a great night entertainment.

Kiltealy-Ballindaggin MASS OF ANOINTING
The annual Mass of anointing and healing will be celebrated in Kiltealy Community Hall tomorrow, Wednesday, February 14 (Ash Wednesday) at 2 p.m. All are most welcome. Our Lady of Lourdes pray for us. Blessed Ashes will be available at the Mass.
SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY
The Ballindaggin senior citizens party will be held in Ballindaggin Community Hall on Sunday next, February 18, at 2 p.m. There is an open invitation to all senior citizens to attend. The organisers would like guests to arrive by 1.30 p.m.
WALKING TRAILS
Kiltealy Walking Trails are having a photographic competition which is open to all in the Kiltealy community with prizes across the following categories: Primary school, secondary school and adults (over 18). Email us a photo you have captured within one of the following three photographic categories: Plants and animals, landscapes, heritage features and culture.
All photos must be taken locally between February 5 and 28. And should be submitted as JPEG files (.jpg) or Tiff files (.tiff) by March 1 (only one photo per person).

A brilliant night of entertainment was enjoyed at the February session of Ballindaggin Storyhouse with songs, recitations, step dancing stories and music that raised the rafters. Sympathy was extended to the families of the following recently deceased: Nellie Kinsella (née Doyle), Frances Carroll and Michael Power.

TRADITIONAL SONG
Traditional song workshops with Aileen Lambert will be held in Ballindaggin Hall on seven dates from Feb. to June filling in the Irish Dancing slot on certain Mondays during this period (which dancing teacher Julie can’t deliver due to work commitments) Age: First class to sixth class. Cost: €8 per day, family rates also available.
Class dates: February 19, March 12, April 9, 16 and 23, May 21, June 11 Time 4.30 p.m. to6p.m.
There will be an end year show featuring Julie’s dancers and Aileen’s singers. Aileen has loads of experience singing with children as part of the Heritage-in-schools scheme. Songs range from nonsense and action songs to love songs and ballads and participants will also illustrate their own songbook featuring lyrics of the songs.
The focus is less on singing and more on full expression of songs full of stories, rhythm, actions, discussions of old words which crop up – and basically enjoying our unique song heritage in a fun environment. Workshop will be ‘pay-as-you-go’.

GRANDPARENTS/ RETIREMENT MASS
There was a large attendance at Kiltealy NS grandparents and retirement Mass in Kiltealy Church recently celebrated by parish priest Fr Jim Fegan where pupils, teachers, grandparents and parents gathered for the lovely ceremony.
At the end of Mass Mary Carroll thanked all present and spoke warmly of Biddy O’Leary, who was celebrating her retirement as school caretaker after 40 years. Fr Jim also complemented Biddy and thanked her for her dedication and hard work and also mentioned the late Fr Fintan Morris, who always spoke so highly of Biddy.
Fr Jim then made a presentation to Biddy on behalf of the board of management of the school, Mary Carroll made her a presentation on behalf of the staff and Biddy also received a presentation from the pupils. Refreshments were served in the school afterwards. Biddy is wished every health and happiness for the future.
CAMOGIE CLUB
Registration night for all players for 2018 will take place in Coolree on Friday, February 16, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. First child €25. Two children €45. Three or more children €60. Students €40. Adults €60, family €60. New members welcome. Players must be registered to take part in training and matches.
SYMPATHY
Deepest sympathy is extended to the family members in the area of the late Frances Carroll, Barnahask, Bunclody, who died on January 25 Interment took place in Calvary Cemetery. May she rest in peace.
