DIABETES TALK
Coolgreany Community Alert have invited our local GP Dr Miriam Birch MD to deliver what should be a very interesting talk on Diabetes in the May Byrne House on Thursday night, February 22, at 8 p.m.
If you are affected in any way with diabetes then come along and hear what is on offer. Margaret Quinn Muintir na Tir Development Officer will also attend, as will our Garda Liaison Officer for the Coolgreany area. Every is welcome to attend.
MACRA COFFEE MORNING
Johnstown-Coolgreany Macra are organising a coffee morning in the May Byrne House, Sunday, February 18, at 10 a.m. With all proceeds going to the Irish Pilgrimage Trust. Please support, Everyone welcome and no donation too big or small so do go along.
ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE
We have just held our first meeting and the parade will be going ahead this year on March 17, starting from the Lower Street at 12.30 p.m. We are looking for people’s views and ideas for this year’s parade – so if you have any, please let us know or even better if you’d like to join our ranks, the committee. The local community extend their deepest sympathy to Jeanette Power and family, Coolgreany Demesne on the death of her mother Mrs Annette Jones (née Nash) whose burial took place in Limbrick Cemetery after funeral Mass in Kilanerin Church last Tuesday.
HANDBALL LOTTO
Coolgreany Handball lotto now stands at €3,900, lotto tickets are available in Jim Short’s, Coolgreany post office, O’Rafferty’s. and Liam Clare Snr. A new prize format is now in place, with seven lucky dips worth €30 each and one Sellers Prize. In the most recent draw there was one luckydip winner Georga Kelly Main Street, Coolgreany, receiving €30 each. Your support is very much appreciated by the club.
FUN AFTERNOON
Come along to Castletown Indoor Arena for a mid-term fun afternnoon, on Wednesday, February 14, from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. All 3rd-6th class pupils are welcome. This fun afternnon is in aid of Castletown/Liam Mellows GAA Club.
On the day there will be lots of fun games, football, penalty shootouts, tandem cycling, bouncy castle, nail painting, delicious chocolate crepes will be on offer on the day. There will also be a giant easter egg raffle so come along for somemidterm fun. Cost is only five euro per child. for more information contact Áine Clopin at 087 6331172.

The annual Castletown/Liam Mellows GAA Club Poker Classic will be held on Friday, February 16, in the Golden Anchor, at 8 p.m. All are welcome to take part.
