New chair at the helm of Gorey Agricultur­al Show

AFTER a very successful few years, Morgan O’Connor has decided to step down as chairperso­n for Gorey Agricultur­al Show.

He announced his decision during last week’s AGM held in the Loch Garman Arms Hotel.

Morgan congratula­ted the committee on a very successful show in 2017 and said it was possibly the best show so far. He also thanked landowner Michael Lacy for his continued support to the show.

The committee are deeply grateful to outgoing chairman Morgan for his hard work. He has chaired the committee since the show moved to Gorey.

Treasurer David Grandy read the treasurers report and deemed the show financiall­y healthy for another year.

The committee of the Gorey Agricultur­al Show is hoping to make this year’s show even bigger and better, and more enjoyable than before. The annual event has really taken off since its move to Clonattin in recent years,

The new committee is as follows: President - Lorcan Allen; Vice President - Irene Poole; Chairman - William Cecil; Vice Chairman - Morgan O’Connor; Treasurers - David Grandy and Zilpha Furney; Secretary - Stella Jones; Assistant Secretary - Ashley O’Connor.

The Gorey Agricultur­al Show will take place on Saturday, June 16, in Clonattin, Gorey.
