Man thought he was insured

A MAN charged with driving without insurance told Arklow District Court last Wednesday that he believed he was insured and that the person who had sold him the vehicle had transferre­d a policy into his name.

Jason Douglas with an address given in court at 8 Newborough, Hollyfort Road, Gorey, but who is now living in Arklow with relatives, was charged with no insurance (user), failure to produce documents, no NCT disc displayed at Boglands, Arklow on October 14, 2016.

Solicitor Pauric Hyland said that his client, a father of five with a past history of drug abuse, has made strides forward and believed he was insured to drive the vehicle.

The matter was adjourned to March 14 for mention.
