Permission refused for Valentia Nursing Home

-

Valentia Nursing Home in Camolin has been refused planning permission for an extension.

Wexford County refused the Nursing Home to develop an additional eight bedrooms with an en suite with store rooms and disabled access toilet; extension and alterations to existing bedroom 27 to provide access to corridor to the new extension; and alterations to existing bedroom four to provide access to new extension.

Valentia Nursing Home is a family run business which operates in the village of Camolin since 1977 and in recent years they have experienced an increased demand for its services. Over the years it has established itself as an integral part of the community.

The reasons for refusal included: it is considered the proposed planning is premature pending the regularisation of the existing Waste Water Treatment System; there is no paucity of information regarding the operation of the existing Waster Water Treatment System on site; there is insufficient information contained within the application and treatment of effluent on site to ascertain the full extent of the cumulative impacts of the proposed and existing developments on the environment.
