Andrea calls on local women for marathon
Gorey-native Andrea Colfer is encouraging the people of Wexford to get involved with National Council for the Blind of Ireland (NCBI) for this year’s VHI Women’s Mini Marathon.
Andrea had heard about NCBI after her little baby girl was born with Albinism. She said the organisation has taught her so much and life became easier and not as frightening.
‘We had no idea about Albinism, we didn’t know what it meant down the road, and we were literally at sea,’ said Andrea.
The local Community Resource Worker Michael Benson has become Andreas’ go to person and is always there to support her. ‘I can’t tell you how much we needed and valued that,’ added Andrea.
Women of Wexford are urged to take part in this year’s Women’s Mini Marathon on Sunday, June 3, on behalf of NCBI to raise some much needed funding. The NCBI needs funds to continue the work they do.
Andrea said getting in touch with NCBI has been the best thing she ever did.
