LITTLE THEATRE LANDS GRAND MARSHAL ROLE

Gorey Little Theatre have been chosen to act as grand marshal of the 2018 Gorey St Patrick’s Day Parade.

The news was announced at a special function in the Theatre last Thursday evening that president Nancy Byrne, Garry Lombard and committee members will be leading this year’s parade.

Parade secretary Claire Urquhart paid tribute to Gorey Little Theatre. She said they have put on countless performanc­es providing all types of entertainm­ent for people.

‘Gorey Little Theatre play an active role in the community,’ said Claire. ‘Due to constant cooperatio­n with other organisati­ons and bodies they have succeeded in promoting and developing north Wexford as a vibrant place to live.’

The Theatre have been running strong since the 1950s and has been the catalyst for the arts developmen­t in Gorey and surroundin­g area.

They have undergone many changes, from their first home in Courtown Harbour to the modern 300 seater auditorium in Gorey.

The committee consists of: president Nancy Byrne; chairperso­n Jan Cullen; vice chairperso­n Ann May; secretary Clara Carter; treasurer Barbara Byrne; PRO Debbie Gartland; artistic director Malcolm Byrne; festival directors Clara Carter and Denis Howell; members Jazz Stynes, Cathy Quirke, Amanda Sheil, David Pepper and Veronica Lombard; trustees Denis Howell, Roy Byrne, Nancy Byrne, Garry Lombard, Malcolm Byrne and Mairead Walker.
