Brought from jail to face charges of trespassing and intoxication
A MAN who is currently serving a four year sentence for an aggravated burglary at the home of a well-known Enniscorthy family was brought before the District Court last week to answer to charges of public intoxication and trespassing in a manner likely to cause fear.
Graham Bryan (20) with a former address at 27 Ashbrook, The Moyne, Enniscorthy, but who is now serving a sentence in the Midlands Prison, pleaded guilty to charges of being intoxicated in public and trespassing at Ballinatray Lower, Courtown, on May 4 of 2016.
The court heard that on the night in question, gardaí were called to a report of two males acting suspiciously at a house. When they arrived, both fled and jumped over a fence. Eventually, Bryan was caught and was said to be in an ‘extremely intoxicated state’.
As well as serving a sentence for aggravated burglary at the home of Ibar and Monica Carthy, Bryan also had previous for theft, criminal damage, trespassing, no insurance and unauthorised taking of an MPV.
Solicitor Ian Bracken said that his client wished to apologise for the incident. He said he was just 18 at the time and had little recollection of how he came to be there.
Mr Bracken said that Bryan was a father of one and had another child on the way, and asked the leniency of the court.
Upon hearing all the evidence and submissions, Judge Cheatle handed down a 4 month sentence on the trespassing charge and took the public intoxication into consideration.
