€12k prize for winner of Ferns Super Draw!

-

THERE were plenty of smiling faces in Dunbar’s of Ferns recently as the prize-giving from the Ferns GAA Super Draw took place. The major fundraising initiative was undertaken by the club in recent months in a bid to complete its clubhouse development. When complete, the impressive clubhouse will have four new dressing rooms, along with associated showers and toilets, a community gym that will be open to all, an upstairs viewing area and a referee’s changing room. The existing clubhouse is also set to be renovated to contain an improved meeting room, a new kitchen, dining facilities and better public toilets.

Amazing progress has been made on the project thus far and the club are hoping to have it open in the coming months. Part of the reason for this is the massive fundraising effort that was put in by ticket sellers over the past five months and Chairman Johnny Sinnott wished to thank everyone who got involved, along with everyone who purchased tickets throughout the county and further afield.

The Super Draw was said to have been a huge success with over 9,500 tickets sold and there were plenty of happy people at Dunbar’s as prizes were presented. The top prize of €12,000 was scooped by Eugene and Siobhán O’Leary from Boolavogue, while there was a second prize of €3,000 for James Murphy from Camolin and third prize of €2,000 for Aimee Stafford of Kilanne and fourth of €1,000 for Pat Bolger from The Rower. There were a total of six other winners from around the county with the amounts ranging from €500 down to €200, all of whom were delighted with their winnings.
