Sillian Players overall winners for ‘Una Pooka’
THE Kilmuckridge Drama Festival came to a close in the KMH last week with adjudicator Patrick Sutton delivering his verdict on the nine nights of brilliant drama.
Mr Sutton announced the Sillian Players as this year’s overall winners in the Confined Section for their performance of ‘Una Pooka’ by Michael Harding.
Parish priest Fr Frank Murphy complimented the organisers on the festival’s huge success this year, noting that there was an excellent demand for seats in the KMH.
Sillian Player’s ‘Una Pooka’ came first place in the Confined Section, followed by Enniscorthy Drama Group’s ‘The Beauty Queen of Leenane’ in second place and Clann Machua Drama Group’s ‘The Cripple of Inishmaan’ took home third place.
The adjudicators award went to Michael and David Farrelly from Sillian Players for ‘Una Pooka’.
Best Actor went to Connor Shaffrey of Sillian Players and Best Actress went to Anne Marie Whelan from Enniscorthy Drama Group.
Best Supporting Actor went to Iggy Brownes of Clann Machua Drama Group and Best Supporting Actress went to Megan Marriott of Curtain Call Dungarvan.
Other awards included: Best Set, Sillian Players; Best Costumes, Sillian Players; Best Producer, Paddy Farrelly of Sillian Players; Best Play, ‘Una Pooka’, Sillian Players.
