Deirdre Masterson tops the charts with Phil Coulter classic
GOREY-NATIVE Deirdre Masterson has topped the World Genre iTune charts and the Mainstream Charts with her latest special commissioned single.
Deirdre had the pleasure of being involved on a special commissioned arrangement of ‘Scorn Not His Simplicity’. The piece was performed at a ceremony for Phil Coulter when he received his honorary degree from the Performing Arts Department in the American College Dublin.
The song has since been re-mastered by Pete Maher, who has worked with U2, La La Land, Katy Perry and more famous artists, and was released as a single on Mother’s Day.
‘Phil Coulter was so taken back by the performance we did that he extended an invitation to myself and the students to perform this alongside him at The National Concert Hall,’ said Deirdre, who is the Performing Arts Dean in the American College Dublin.
The reaction provoked them to make an official recording of the work. All proceeds raised are going to Down Syndrome Field of Dreams Project.
Deirdre said as part of International Down Syndrome Day on March 21, they will perform the piece in St FinBarre’s Cathedral in Cork, with ETB Cork Musicians as part of Down Syndrome Field of Dreams Project. The highlight of this concert will be the special commissioned performance by Deirdre and the students from American College Dublin.
