Enrolments are now being taking for new pupils for September 2018. Please call to the school office or call 053 9427496 for an enrolment pack. Please return enrolment forms by April 14.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR – A children’s book fair will be held in Ballycanew NS from Monday, April 23, to Thursday, April 26, from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Commission from all the purchases will be used to purchase more books for the school library. Parents and members of the public are most welcome to attend as their support would be very much appreciate­d. Mobile book cases packed with the best books will be displayed in the school.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION – The pupils from second class will be making their First Confession on Wednesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. in St Moling’s Church. First Holy Communion will take place on Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m. in St Moling’s church.

CLOTHES COLLECTION

Ballycanew National School are holding a clothes recycling collection on Monday, April 23, to help raise funds for the school. Please donate all your new and used men’s/women’s and children’s clean unwanted clothing, paired shoes, towels, belts, handbags, ties, lines, household textiles, stuffed toys etc. Please leave bags into GP hall on Friday, April 20, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. or before 9.30 a.m. on Monday, April 23. Please do not leave bags after 9.30 a.m. on the Monday morning. Thank you for your support.

SPLIT-THE-POT

winner for split-the-pot for March 3 was Brendan Byrne Jr., who won €322. The winner of split-the-pot for March 10was Kyle Byrne, who won €322. Both Draws were done separately by two different individual­s. Thanks for all your support.

ST PATRICK’S GAA LOTTO

There was no winner of last week’s jackpot ; winning numbers were 2, 5, 12 and 13 ; nobody matched three numbers so €200 was donated to Cancer Research.

TABLE QUIZ

Ballycanew Community First Responders are holding a table quiz on Saturday, March 24, at the Ramble Inn at 8 p.m. This was a huge success last year and enjoyed by many so please support your local Community First Responders.

DAFFODIL DAY

Ivan and Mary Ryanhart are holding a coffee day and a bring and buy sale on Friday, March 23, from 10.30 a.m. to 11 p.m. that night at their home in Ballyfoley, Ballycanew. Please support.

FIRST RESPONSERS

Ballycanew Community First Responders need new volunteers. Our aim is to provide cover 24/7 but at the moment we don’t have enough volunteers to do that. The commitment requires one training session once a month (one to two hours) and cover one 12-hour shift once a week. It works around your commitment­s.
