Operation TransFORDmation comes to a successful end
THE communities of Craanford, Holyfort and Monaseed can finally relax after the three-month fundraiser Operation TransFORDmation came to an end on Sunday.
As a result of all their hard-work, they raised a total of €19,680 for the completion of much-needed dressing rooms at the Craanford Community Complex which will be officially opened on Saturday, May 5, at 8.30 p.m.
Team B led by Michael Lyons and Donal Kenny won the overall title of Operation TransFORDmation 2018 Champions.
The last event of the initiative took place on Sunday evening and many gathered in Craanford at the Complex to take part in the 5km race.
Committee member Margaret Doyle said the race was open to everyone and all runners deserve huge praise for finishing the event.
The results are as follows: Men’s race – 1 Peter Kavanagh, 2 John Byrne and 3 Stephen Whelan; Lady’s race – 1 Doreen Kenny, 2 Catriona Murphy and 3 Kerrie Daly and Catriona Doran; First Youth Boy – Sean Bass; First Youth Girl – Abbie Murray; First Buggy Home – Mairead Byrne and Kate; Merit Award – Cian Murray.
Non-Operation TransFORDmation participant results: Men’s race – 1 Darren Cloake, 2 Luke Lonergan, 3 Liam Byrne; Lady’s race – 1 Catherine Ryan.
Margaret said they would all like to thank the leaders from the areas, team members, the committee, and to everyone who supported the wonderful community initiative.
‘Our motto was “A new year, a new you, new dressing rooms”’, added Margaret.
The participants enjoyed refreshments and musical entertainment after the race in Cooney’s Bar.
