CHIN TAKES UP FARMING
THE STAFF at Wexford’s Permanent TSB are gearing up to take part in a 50km charity cycle in aid of Friends of Wexford General Hospital MRI appeal.
As a result, the staff, pictured here, are encouraging customers to drop into their Wexford and Gorey branches and donate to the worthy local cause.
The cycle will take place on Saturday, June 2, at midday, from Permanent TSB, Main Street, Gorey. The 20 cyclists will then make their way through Camolin, Ferns, Enniscorthy, where they will take a break at Market Square, and finish at Wexford General Hospital. WEXFORD SENIOR hurling star Lee Chin took to a different kind of field recently when he participated in the RTÉ programme ‘Big Week on the Farm’.
He is one of a number of well known personalities participating in the programme which sees them get out of their normal day-to-day routines, and comfort zones, to experience what life is like on a working farm.
The property in question is a dairy facility belonging to Gillian and Neil O’Sullivan and their family, who live in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. The award-winning show is in its third series this year and along with the Wexford hurling star other people appearing this time around include Sean O’Brien, Alison Spittle and Deirdre O’Kane.
In the programme they perform as guest presenters alongside main hosts Ella McSweeney and Áine Lawlor.
The show is unique in that is also plays host to a 150-strong live studio audience in a field overlooking Dungarvan Bay; a field where the O’Sullivans’ cattle would ordinarily be grazing.
The aim of the show is to give viewers, the hosts, and the host family, an insight into the secret life of wild animals that scurry about in and around farms all over the country every day but remain largely ‘under the radar’.
