Flash of brilliance at photo exhibit
STUDENTS from the Digital Photography course at Enniscorthy VTOS got the opportunity to show off some of their wonderful work recently as the VTOS building at Gonzaga House on Wafer Street was thrown open to the public for the students’ annual exhibition.
Members of the public were invited to take a look around the iconic building which has undergone a major transformation into a modern adult education centre, before taking in some of the impressive work on display from the students.
As part of the QQI level 3 Digital Photography module, students were asked to take a range of photographs for display and there was something for everyone on the day - from beautiful shots of Enniscorthy landmarks such as Vinegar Hill and the Cathedral, to portraits that made wonderful use of lighting and fine examples of macro and abstract photography.
From taking the pictures to editing and printing, the course gave them the ability and confidence to undertake their own exhibition. As well as that, they picked up all manner of practical hints and tips, as well as studying masters of visual communication such as Robert Capa and Banksy.
Those who attended the exhibition over the course of the day were well impressed by the work that they saw and the students were congratulated by teacher James Quirke and VTOS co-ordinator Eithne Agar on another fantastic exhibition.
