INCH PARISH SALE

The Inch Parish sale takes place on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in the parish hall (opposite Canavans Shop). There will be a cake stall, plants, raffles, toys bric-à-brac, tea, coffee and lots more. All support would be very welcome.

POSITIVE AGEING TOURS

Arklow Positive Ageing Group will hold a day trip to Kilkenny Castle and then Shopping On May 19, again the bus will be leaving the Tesco car park at 9.30, and the cost is €20. On May 31 there will be a bus to the Bloom Show, leaving Tesco car park the cost is €25. More details later. Contact 086 0817534.

ALCOHOL/SUBSTANCE ABUSE

The Alcohol and Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) Programme is a joint venture by the GAA and the Health Service Executive that aims to reduce the harm being caused by tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.

The ASAP Programme is aimed at preventing alcohol and other drug related problems from happening, educating members about relevant issues, and responding appropriat­ely should a problem arise.

With that in mind the Healthy Club committee at Castletown Liam Mellows GAA Club have organised an informatio­n evening for coaches, parents and the wider community. Tuesday, May 8, at 8 p.m. in the clubhouse Tomnahely.

Speakers will include Andy Horgreaves from the HSE and two members from our local An Garda Síochána, Detectives Darren Coleman and Iain Hayes. This will be a very informativ­e night and everyone welcome.

WEDDING BELLS

Congratula­tions to Peter McCarthy and Sunshine Aubrey Garcia, Askinch, Coolgreany, who celebrated their wedding ceremony in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Friday, April 27, when nearly 200 guests attended and enjoyed a great day.

STOLEN PROPERTY

In the recent past there has been a lot of property and farm gates etc removed or stolen in the local areas of Inch, Coolgreany, Tinnock, and also on the Askinch road during the past week, Gardaí at Gorey 053 9430690 are seeking the help of anyone who may have noticed anything unusual happening, which would be very much appreciate­d.

TIDY TOWNS

The local community are making a very big effort to clean all roads around the village in preparatio­n for the Tidy Towns Competitio­ns which will start around early June. It is with all the local support that better results can be achieved when the adjudicati­on is completed, and the committee are appealing for more help to keep the work going.

HANDBALL LOTTO

Coolgreany Handball lotto now stands at €5,000, lotto tickets are available in Jim Short’s, Coolgreany post office, O’Rafferty’s. and Liam Clare Snr. A new prize format is now in place, with seven lucky dips worth €30 each and one Seller’s prize. There was no lucky-dip winner last week. Your support is very much appreciate­d by the club.
