PRIDE OF PLACE

The first meeting of preparatio­n for the IPB National Pride of Place took place in St Brigid’s Hall, Clonegal on Wednesday, April 25. A large number of groups were represente­d. The meeting was led by the Community Section of Carlow County Council.

It was decided to set up the following groups: Arts, Culture and Heritage, Built and Natural Environmen­t, Sports and Recreation, Education – School, Montessori, After School, Business and Tourism and churches, Spiritual. Volunteers took on the role of organising the above groups.

The next meeting will take place in St Brigid’s Hall, Clonegal on Wednesday, May 9, at 7 p.m. Everyone in the community is invited to attend. Representa­tives from any group in the area are invited to the meeting. Everyone welcome.

BEN MULHALL PARK EGM

There will be an Extraordin­ary general meeting (EGM), in St Brigid’s Hall on Thursday, May 3, from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. in relation to the Ben Mulhall Memorial Park Associatio­n. The reason for the meeting is to urgently discuss funding, meeting bank repayments and safeguardi­ng the future of the park for the community.

IMPORTANT DATES

First Holy Communion will take place in St Brigit’s Church, Clonegal on Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m. and St Lazarian’s Church, Kildavin on Sunday, May 27, at 11.30 a.m.

COUNTRY MARKET

Bunclody Country Market opens every Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in St Aidan’s Hall, Irish Street, Bunclody. We will have a selection of home-made tarts, buns, cakes, scones and breads along with a wide range of handmade crafts. Tea or coffee and treats available for €3, so why not come along.
