THREE CREAGH COUPLES SECURE SPOT IN STRICTLY FINAL
CREAGH COLLEGE STRICTLY COME DANCING IN THE AMBER SPRINGS HOTEL IN GOREY
CREAGH College staff and students put on their dancing shoes on Thursday night for their very first Strictly Come Dancing event in the Amber Springs Hotel.
The competition was fierce between the dancers, but only three couples were picked on the night by the judges to go through and battle it out against Colaiste Bhride Carnew in the final.
Benny Cullen and Linda Furlong, Robert Murphy and Mia Robbins, and William Higgins and Julia Rus, will go to the next round of the competition, which will take place in October.
Five teacher couples and five student couples took part in the event and a total of six couples will go on to represent Creagh College in the final against Colaiste Bhride Carnew.
The next Creagh College semi-final will take place in the coming months.
The standard was said to be very high, which made it a difficult task for judges Shelly Atkins, Cllr Malcolm Byrne and professional dancer Krzysztof Baranowski to pick the winners.
The dancers were trained by choreographer Charlene Breen and they all said she was a pleasure to work with. Charlene came up with creative and entertaining dances and added some freestyle routines.
The dancing couples canvassed heavily for votes in the lead up to the event, and teacher Bridget O’Connor said they even had a dance-off the day before the strictly event.
Creagh College would like to thank all the local businesses who supported the event; Sarah Byrne, who did all the dancers’ hair; Sophie Wong for the make-up; and Jack Dunne Menswear for providing suits to the ushers.
