Defibrillator for Camolin thanks to Somers family

-

The residents of Camolin welcomed an important new addition to the village on Tuesday morning.

The family of the late Jim Somers from Camolin kindly donated an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) to the village, which has been placed at Somers Commercials on Main Street.

Camolin and Ferns Community First Responders unveiled the new defibrillator and acknowledged the generosity of the donation which will hopefully save a life in the case of a cardiac arrest emergency in the Camolin area.

The defibrillator is mounted to a wall in a cabinet at the entrance to Somers Commercials, beside Jack Taverns Bar. It was donated to the village by the Somers family in Jim Somers memory.

Ferns CFR has been up-and-running for 23 months, and in that time they have attended 104 calls. The group comprises of volunteers who offer support to the National Ambulance Service by providing emergency first response in the event of chest pain, stroke, choking or cardiac arrest in the Ferns, Camolin, Ballyduff and Clologue areas.

Ferns CFR would like to commend the support and good will they have received from the community. Various fundraising events ran locally together with donations by businesses have resulted in the group being fully equipped to assist the Ambulance service when required.

Ferns CFR are always looking for new recruits. More information is available by emailing info@ fernscfr.com or by phoning Mary on 087 2327902.
