ONE FLIP CLOSER TO THE NATIONAL GAMES FINAL
THE competition was fierce at this year’s Community Games County Gymnastics Finals held in Gorey Gym Club on Sunday afternoon.
There was a hive of activity in the Gym Club as the children competing came from BBBCR, Kilrush/Askamore, Piercestown/Murrintown, Gorey town, Bree/Davidstown, and Kilanerin.
Community Games PRO Anne Cowman said the standard was high and strong, and the winners will go on to compete in the national finals on Saturday, May 26, in University of Limerick.
‘Number of the girls categories were strong, but alas the entries for the boys categories are still quite small,’ said Anne. ‘Nevertheless, the competition was strong.’
Wexford Community Games want to thank Angie Dooley and her committee for the smooth running of the competitions and all who attended and competed as well.
The winners are as follows: Under-9 Girls – 1 Eavan Bolger from Kilanerin, 2 Paige O’Reilly from Gorey and Natalie Riquet from Gorey, 3 Jessica O’Brien from Gorey; Under-9 Boys – 1 Dillion Byrne from Gorey, 2 Eric Hayden from Gorey, 3 Noah Murphy from Gorey; Under-11 Girls – 1 Anna Hughes from Kilanerin, 2 Rebecca Lynch BBBCR, 3 Rebecca Keating from Gorey; Under-11 Boys – 1 James Luff from Gorey; Under-13 Girls – 1 Saidbhe Sheil from Gorey, 2 Ciara Roche from Piercestown/ Murrintown, 3 Ella McCann from BBBCR; Under-15 Girls – 1 Robyn Cousins from Gorey, 2 Aislinn Buttle from Kilanerin, 3 Sarah Bergin from Gorey and Aoife Doyle from BBBCR.
