A great line-up of entertainment attracted more than 7,000 people to the 159th Gorey Agricultural Show in Clonattin on Saturday.
Dancing with Declan put folks through their steps all-day, while Theresa& The Stars, Louise Morris se ya nd The Thunder- birds delighted the audience with their musical talents.
The Gorey Agricultural Show is one of the longest running in Ireland, which is an achievement in itself. Secretary Stella Jones said the Show was as just good as last year, despite the slight bad weather that morning.
‘After, when the sun began to shine, thousands of people started to come to the show,’ added Stella.
For the first time this year, the Show introduced the poultry section competition for hard feather; heavy soft feather; light soft feather; true bantam; waterfowl; and junior competition.
The horse entries were big again this year, and the show jumping field was busy from 9 a.m., until 6 p.m. There was a huge interest in the pairs derby. The cattle and sheep sections were busy throughout the day, especially the Hereford section.
There was a hive of activity at the trade stand field, where various competitions were held including colouring and Lego competition for the kids.
The dog show proved to be ever so popular, with ribbons presented to Entry on the Field; Best Groomed Dog; Best Toy Dog; Any Variety Small Dog; and Various Other Classes. Many people throughout the day gathered to see the vintage display. It included vintage farm machinery, cars, tractors, thrashers and steam engines.
