Gorey Active Retirement Gowran Park Race Day will take place on Sunday, June 24. Tickets are €49 per person, which includes lunch, race card and dance. The bus leaves The Ashdown Park Hotel at 11 a.m. sharp. Book in the Loch Garman Arms on Friday, June 8, from 11 a.m., until 1 p.m.

Gorey Active Retirement mystery trip will take place on Thursday, August 16. It is €55 per person. Please pay by July 13, limited number of seats. Pay in the Loch Garman Arms on Fridays.

Sea Cruise and River Seine Experience on July 21, 2019, for seven nights. Collection from Gorey to Dublin, board and sail at 2.55 p.m. £1,349 for two people inside cabin full board. £1,859 for inside cabin ocean view. £1,049 for single occupancy. Exhibition

For World Refugee Week, members of the public are asked to take part in the Participat­ory Exhibition Wall in Gorey Library, from Monday, June 18, until Sunday, June 24.

The public are asked to think about which items they would take with them if they were forced to flee their homes, write it down and pin it to the wall for others to see.

Scrabble Club

The Scrabble Club will meet on Tuesday, June 19, at 7 p.m., in Gorey Library. New members are always welcome.

Tidy Towns

Ballygarre­tt Tidy Towns will host an up-cycle bird feeder workshop.

The two-day workshop will take place on Wednesday, June 20, and Wednesday, June 27, in Ballygarre­tt GAA Clubhouse, at 9 a.m., until 11.30 a.m.

Rangers AGM

The Gorey Rangers AGM will take place on Friday, June 22, at 7.30 p.m., in Breen’s Bar.

Current members are asked to come along, and new faces are more than welcome to join.

Shedfest 2018

NWHS

The North Wexford Historical Society Summer Tour will take place on Saturday, June 23. The bus will leave Gorey at 8 a.m.

The group will be visiting Masonic Grand Lodge Ireland and Trinity College to see the Book of Kells. The cost is €30.

Art workshop

Fabradoodl­e Doggie Drawing Day Children’s Illustrati­on Workshops for children in Gorey Library on Saturday, June 23.

Celebrate Crinniú na nÓg with illustrato­r Ciara Winkleman. Ciara creates and illustrate­s her own children’s pictures books, developing her special canine characters ‘Fabradoodl­es’.

There will be two interactiv­e drawing workshops for children – seven to nine year old, 11.30 a.m., until 12.20 p.m. and 10 to 12-year olds from 2.30 p.m., until 3.20 p.m.

Autism Talk

There will be an Autism Awareness Talk with Saskia Dodebier of Cottage Autism Network Wexford in Gorey Library on Tuesday, June 26, at 7 p.m. All welcome, but booking essential.

Book Club

The Page Turners Book Club will meet in Gorey Library on Tuesday, June 26, at 3.30 p.m.

For the June meeting they will be discussing Tom Gates by Liz Pichon. Also, sharing ideas about their summer ideas for summer reads in advance of the Summer Reading Adventure.

Theatre

Wells House and Gardens are hosting an Open Air Theatre, showcasing ‘Little Women’.

The play will take place on Sunday, June 24. Contact Wells House for ticket details.

Based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott, join Chapterhou­se Theatre as four sisters Jo, Beth, Meg and Amy tell the story of their life during the Civil War in America with the beautiful Wells House as the backdrop.

Chapterhou­se Theatre Company id now in its 19th year of touring open-air theatre to stunning country houses, castles and heritage sites across the UK and Ireland.

AGM

The Gorey Musical Society AGM will take place on Wednesday, June 27, at 8 p.m., in Loch Garman Arms. New members are most welcome.

Resource

A carers support group will run the last Wednesday of every month in the Gorey Family Resource Centre at 10.30 a.m. All are welcome to take part.

These support groups are for carers of people who may suffer from dementia, mental health issues, physical disabiliti­es or who may fall under the autism spectrum also.

Tidy Towns

Gorey Tidy Towns will hold its next monthly meeting in the Loch Garman Arms on Wednesday, July 11, at 8 p.m. New members are most welcome.

Volunteers also meet every Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 10.15 a.m. at the Tidy Towns shed at the top of the Civic Square car park on the Avenue, before heading off around town to work on a Tidy Towns project.

Additional volunteers are always most welcome.

RNLI

The newly refurbishe­d Courtown RNLI shop on the North Pier will now open seven-days a week from 1.30 p.m., until 5.30 p.m., except for Friday’s with an earlier time of 10.30 a.m., until 5 p.m.

Everyone is welcome, so come in and browse the various items they have for sale and help save lives at sea.

Methodist

The Gorey Methodist Church morn- ing worship services will change on July 1, from 10.30 a.m., to 11 a.m.

Toddler time

Toddler Storytime will take place in Gorey Library Tuesday mornings at 11 a.m. Plenty of fun is guaranteed and everyone is welcome. Parents/carers should supervise their toddlers at all times in the Library.

Digital skills

Gorey Library are delighted to facilitate a range of FREE digital skills training including basic computing, tablet and smartphone classes. Please ask their library staff for details of the course providers.

VTOS courses

The Vocational Training Opportunit­y Scheme (VTOS) for adult learners is now taking enrolments for September 2018 courses.

VTOS Further education courses are ideal for second chance adult learners over the age of 21 and not in employment.

VTOS is situated across from Gorey Library in the Gorey Adult Education Centre.

Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill Foundation have opened a shop in Gorey located at number 1, Main Street, which was formerly Toymaster.

The Jack and Jill shop is open from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m., until 5.30 p.m., excluding the bank holidays.

They have a large range of items for sale and currently accept donations of clothing, furniture and bric a brac. Call in store for more details.

SVP shop

The St Vincent de Paul furniture shop on McDermott Street, Gorey, welcomes donations of clean saleable furniture, including rugs, lamps, etc.

IWA shop

The Irish Wheelchair Associatio­n charity shop at Pearse Street, Gorey, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Saturday.

We accept donations of clothes and goods.
