THE FIRST round of the Leinster League took place in Bunclody on Tuesday.

The follow-up round which was due to take place at the same venue has been called off. The next round will be in Athy this evening (Tuesday, June 19) with Division 1 and 2 doubles.

The points after the first round are: Paddy Byrne and Denis Ryan (Gouleyduff), three; John Joe Byrne and Walter Christophe­r (Doran’s Bridge), two; Seán O’Connor and Michael Doyle (Gouleyduff), one.

The Wexford league has reached the halfway stage.

The Division 1 points situation is: Woodsmen, eleven; Doran’s Bridge, nine; Monart, seven; Vinegar Hill, seven. Vinegar Hill and Woodsmen both have a game in hand.

Division 2 sees Doran’s Bridge ‘B’ leading on four points. Curracloe are on one point but have two games in hand.

The Division 2 singles is being held this Tuesday in Ferns in the league field at 7 p.m.

The Division 2 doubles are taking place this Thursday night in Ferns at 7 p.m.

The following week will see the Division 1 singles taking place on Tuesday, June 26, and the doubles on Thursday, June 28, both with 7 p.m. starts.

Saturday, June 30, will see the Leinster open team event Division 1 taking place, and the Michael Furlong shield team Division 2 event will be held on the same night.
