TIDY TOWNS

June is Tidy Towns adjudication time and the local community are making a big effort to clean up along roadsides and throughout the village in preparation. All the local support possible will help us achieve the best result; the committee are appealing for all households who possibly can to make a big effort in the front of their homes over the next few weeks. And if you want to do more, just drop your name and email into the basket marked Tidy Towns on the table in the Café at the community centre.

GAA CLUB NOTES

team of the week is easily the under-14 camogie team who played in the National Féile in Galway last weekend. They were hosted by the SLYANE GAA club from outside Tuam. A great weekend was had by all on and off the pitch. The girls played brilliantly, getting to the final on Sunday in Athlone.

Having overcome a fancied Letterkenny team in the semi-final, they lost the final to, by coincidence the team we hosted in Kilanerin last year, Longford Slashers. This is the first time an underage team from Kilanerin/Tara Rocks ever played in an all-Ireland final. A big well dne to the girls and to the parents who went to support and also to the very dedicated mentors. These girls play both camogie and football at a very high standard.

The men’s adult league games are going very well with the footballers having wins over Castletown and Blackwater and the hurlers winning against St Patrick’s and Naomh Eanna. The A hurlers are playing in Shamrocks on Sunday the 24th and the B team in Ferns on Tuesday the 26th. The under-17 and under-20 fixtures start again once the examsareover.

A final reminder about the Cúl Camps being held in Kilanerin on July 2 and again on July 30.
