Pupils get insight into life as a first responder

- By SARA GAHAN

PUPILS from Craanford National School and Monaseed National School were given a training day from First Responders.

The First Responders Awareness Day was organised by the two schools to inform and educate pupils on the different services who respond to emergencies.

The representatives from Coast Guard, Gardaí, Fire Service and Red Cross gave a talk on the different types of situations they attend and also explained the importance of knowing their Eircode. They also came along in their vehicles, which went down a treat with the children.

The two schools raised more than €1,000 for the First Responders on the day. Craanford-Monaseed First Responders were extremely happy to receive the donation. It allows the group to purchase some much-needed equipment and receive training.

Craanford and Monaseed National School said they would like to thank everyone involved in making the day a success.

If anyone would be interest in training as a First Responder, they can contact Noeleen on 087 4104707.
