WOMEN OF CLONGEEN GETTING CREATIVE

-

Members of Clongeen Art Group held an exhibition in Wexford Library featuring a range of mosaics, ceramics and multi-media pieces which they made during an art course in the village hall.

The collective comprising Marion Brady, Bernadette White, Alice Purcell, Irene Smith, Kerry Smith, Helen Berney, Kerry O’ Grady and Teresa Morris emerged from the Rosebuds Ladies Group in Clongeen which organises regular activities and outings for its members.

It all started about 18 months ago when Waterford Wexford Education and Training Board offered funding for weekly art classes in Clongeen Hall conducted by art tutor Trish Murphy. So began a whole new interest for some of the members who have been getting in touch with their creative side.

‘Only one of us had done art classes before. It was new to most of us’, said Marion Brady. ‘We all loved it and that is why we are setting up the art group to keep it going even though there is no more funding. We are going to go from house to house until we find a premises or get some more funding’.
