Intoxicated woman crashed into garden wall in Courtown
A WOMAN who crashed her car into a garden wall while over the legal alcohol limit was banned off the road by Judge Kevin Staunton at Gorey District Court.
Ann Marie Byrne (40) of 49 Woodlands, Courtown Harbour, was present in court and pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving in her estate on June 14 of this year.
Garda Michael Lee gave evidence that Byrne had crashed her Volkswagen Passat into a garden wall and subsequently admitted to drink driving. At the station, she returned a reading of 65mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath.
Solicitor Lana Doherty apologised on behalf of her client and informed the judge that the car Byrne was driving on the night belonged to her ex partner, while the wall she crashed into belonged to her aunt. She has subsequently fixed up for all the damage caused and apologised.
‘She has dealt with this in a very honourable and responsible way,’ said Judge Staunton, before handing Byrne a €100 fine and a two year driving ban.
