Open­ing of Rams­fort Wood walk­ing trail

A new wood­land walk in Gorey has been of­fi­cially opened by mem­bers from Gorey Mu­nic­i­pal District and rep­re­sen­ta­tives from Coillte.

The Rams­fort Woods Trails are lo­cated at Rams­fort Park Woods at the edge of Gorey town. The trails were de­vel­oped by Wex­ford County Coun­cil with the per­mis­sion of the own­ers from Coillte and con­structed by Wil­lie Hay­den.

Cllr Joe Sul­li­van said the trails would be a valu­able amenity for the lo­cal peo­ple and he thanked Coillte for their sup­port in de­vel­op­ing the project.

The trails were as­sessed by the Na­tional Trails Of­fice in Sport Ire­land and, on ap­proval, it will be­come part of the na­tional net­work of trails in Ire­land. Coillte Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Man­ager Pat Neville said Coillte are de­lighted to work with Wex­ford County Coun­cil on this project to make Rams­fort Wood more ac­ces­si­ble to the pub­lic. Gorey Mu­nic­i­pal District Amanda Byrne ac­knowl­edged the sup­port of Wex­ford Trails in de­vel­op­ing the project and thanked Gorey Tidy Towns for the clean-up in spring.

At the launch of the Rams­fort Wood walk­ing trails were Mi­ley Finn, con­trac­tor Wil­lie Hay­den, Cllr Joe Sul­li­van, Pat Neville, Coillte; Amanda Byrne, area man­ager; Der­mot Do­ran and Maura Hig­gins, Wex­ford County Coun­cil.
