Opening of Ramsfort Wood walking trail

A new woodland walk in Gorey has been officially opened by members from Gorey Municipal District and representa­tives from Coillte.

The Ramsfort Woods Trails are located at Ramsfort Park Woods at the edge of Gorey town. The trails were developed by Wexford County Council with the permission of the owners from Coillte and constructe­d by Willie Hayden.

Cllr Joe Sullivan said the trails would be a valuable amenity for the local people and he thanked Coillte for their support in developing the project.

The trails were assessed by the National Trails Office in Sport Ireland and, on approval, it will become part of the national network of trails in Ireland. Coillte Communicat­ions Manager Pat Neville said Coillte are delighted to work with Wexford County Council on this project to make Ramsfort Wood more accessible to the public. Gorey Municipal District Amanda Byrne acknowledg­ed the support of Wexford Trails in developing the project and thanked Gorey Tidy Towns for the clean-up in spring.
