Jim Hurley lec­ture will fo­cus on the Keer­agh Is­lands

THIS year’s Fes­ti­val Lec­ture by lo­cal sci­en­tist and en­vi­ron­men­tal­ist Jim Hurley will fo­cus on the Keer­agh Is­lands with an in­tro­duc­tion to the his­tory and wildlife of the two tiny is­lands lo­cated 10 kilo­me­tres west of Kil­more Quay.

Jim will de­liver the lec­ture at 8pm on Fri­day, July 13 in the Stella Maris Cen­tre. Admission is free and ev­ery­one in­ter­ested is wel­come to at­tend.

The fol­low­ing day, Satur­day, July 14, Jim will lead a leisurely two-hour na­ture walk on the 4.5km looped Kil­more Quay Walk­ing Trail.

The trail takes in For­lorn Point, the sand dunes at Bal­lyteige Bur­row and the Bur­row beach. Meet at the chil­dren’s play­ground on the prom­e­nade in Kil­more Quay for a 2p, start. This is also a free event.
