Kilmore United 0, North End United 5: North End opened their shield campaign with a win when they eventually overcame a hard-working Kilmore side, running out 5-0 winners.

Players from both sides would like to wish Kilmore United player Julie Benson a speedy recovery as she ended up in A & E with a nasty hand injury.

St. Joseph’s 1, Ferns United 10: Ferns opened their campaign in defence of their shield title with a comfortable win away to a youthful St. Joseph’s side.

Pamela Walsh was on target for the home team.

Forth Celtic 1, Adamstown FC 1: The big game of the day saw these two potential Premier title challengers clash in the first major meeting of the season.

In a very close, hard-fought encounter, Natasha Byrne-Rossiter gave the home side the lead with a well-struck free-kick, but Adamstown showed their character to battle back and equalise through Julie Colfer in the second-half.

However, Bunclody pulled away in the second-half, with Britney Conroy and Geri Rose O’Connor scoring two each while Mikayla Farrell also got her name on the scoresheet.

Shelburne United 1, Corach Ramblers 4: Two goals from Geraldine Curtis and one each from Niamh Miller and Sinéad O’Connor set Ramblers up for a comfortable 4-1 win away to Shelburne. Becca Foley was on target for the home side.

Cushinstown AFC 1, All Blacks 3: All Blacks marked their return to women’s soccer with a win away to Cushinstown in a well-contested game.
