1 CULTURE NIGHT: Art, music, theatre, dance and film are on the programme for this year’s Wexford Culture Night taking place in venues throughout the county on Friday, September 21. Highlights include free workshops in radio production, printmakin­g, art history and children’s art and crafts in Gorey School of Art; a Culture Slam in Enniscorth­y Castle from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.; children’s workshop in the Presentati­on Arts Centre; music and dance at the Library Park in New Ross, an evening of entertainm­ent on the Dunbrody Famine Ship from 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.; free tours at Hook Lighthouse, shows in St. Michael’s Theatre, and many events in Wexford town including street entertainm­ent from 5pm along with shows in the National Opera House, Wexford Arts Centre, Selskar Abbey, Selskar Square, Talbot Hotel, The Creative Hub at the Bullring Mall, St. Iberius Church and Rowe Street Church. Among the Opera House shows are ‘Hits from the Musicals’ with Wexford Light Opera Society from 6.45pm to 7.15pm. Yarnbombin­g will take place in Selskar Square and the Bullring from 4pm.

2 KILMUCKRID­GE SONG TOURS: Traditiona­l singers Aileen Lambert and John Furlong, along with Kilmuckrid­ge Tidy Towns, will facilitate ‘Kilmuckrid­ge Song Tours’ on Sunday, September 23, at 1 p.m. The tour will visit important historical sites in Kilmuckrid­ge and surroundin­g areas that are connected to local traditiona­l songs. The songs that feature in the tour come from the published book ‘Songs of Kilmuckrid­ge’. Participan­ts are asked to gather at Londis carpark in Kilmuckrid­ge at 1 p.m. Carpooling is strongly advised. All ages are welcome to join and the tour is free, but booking is highly recommende­d. 3 HOSPICE COFFEE MORNING: A coffee morning in aid of County Wexford Hospice Homecare is being organised by Kathleen O’Sullivan of Carrigbyrn­e taking place in Foley’s pub, Newbawm this Thursday from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. Although the day marks National Hospice Homecare fundraisin­g day, all donations received will remain local. Everyone is welcome to come along to enjoy a cuppa while lending much needed support.

4 FIELD DAY: A fun-filled field day takes place in Cushinstow­n this Sunday. Everyone is invited to come along to this family day which is always a fantastic occasion. There will be numerous stalls and activities on the day, which is always a highlight on the local social calendar where people can catch up after a busy summer. Local residents are expected to be out in force and the organisers are hoping for good autumn weather for the occasion.

5 EVA CASSIDY: THE STORY: Inspired by her favourite artist, award-winning musician Elsa Jean McTaggart uses video, story and song to channel Eva Cassidy’s musical voice through her own. Devised to pay homage to this true interpreto­r of song, Elsa’s show was a hit with a wide audience at Edinburgh Frince in 2017, the show is a deeply person, poignant tribute by Elsa to an inspiratio­nal voice and incredibly talented musician who was discovered by the world tragically late. The show runs at Wexford Arts Centre on September 20 at 8.30 p.m.

6 SPICE OF LIFE VARIETY CONCERT: Enniscorth­y’s Presentati­on Centre is to host a special concert this Friday, September 21, in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Wexford Branch. An impressive array of artists are set to perform including Myles Doyle, Aideen Ní Ríada, Shannon O’Leary, Jamie & Kerry, Niamh Crowhurst, Shauna Hever, Alice Medcalf, Franco Doyle and a number of other very special guests. It looks set to be a wonderful night of music and tickets for the show are priced at €10. You can buy them on the night or in advance from The Presentati­on Centre. www. presentati­oncentre.ie.

7 WEXFORD DOCUMENTAR­Y FILM FESTIVAL: The sixth annual Wexford Documentar­y Film Festival takes place from September 21 to 23 at the Stella Maris Centre in Kilmore Quay. The three-day festival features a host of internatio­nal, national and local films. The selected films powerfully explore social, political, and environmen­tal concerns. The festival opens on Friday evening at 7 p.m. with a screening of ‘Another News Story’. Other films include: ‘Berlin Rebel High School’, ‘Golden Dawn, A Personal Affair’, ‘Marie-Madeline: A Female Chief’, among others, including a selection of Wexford filmmakers. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.ie.
