SENIOR HURLING

For the first time since 1998 Oulart-The Ballagh senior hurlers failed to advance to the quarter-finals of the championship when they lost to Rathnure on Sunday, September 9. So what? Players, club members and loyal supporters are disappointed but not downhearted because we know and appreciate the wonderful achievements of the club in winning 13 senior titles (1994-2016) as well as being runners-up nine times since 1974 and having a team that won Wexford’s only ‘Five – in-a-row’ of senior hurling championships (2009-2013). Coupled with that we have provided Wexford teams with excellent players in all grades and our club personnel have given, and continue to give, great service to the GAA. We are not ready to be written off yet. We will be back competing for senior honours.

And while our seniors take a break from the game that they graced for so long our intermediate team has advanced to the knock-out stages of the ‘A’ championship and our underage teams are all doing well, having already won the primary schools’ Rackard League and the inaugural under-13 championships and are still in contention in the under-15 and under-17 grades.
