GAA CLUB NOTES

It is the middle of September and as we write on Thursday evening, the adult section of the club is going for an amazing six county championships in the one season Two football teams for Kilanerin and two hurling teams for the Rock plus both hurling and football at under-20 All this from a small panel made smaller by dual players involved in up to three of the six teams.

We really have to praise the commitment of the players and the workload of the mentors involved. Perhaps the season will end with no titles who knows but we do know that in this part of North Wexford we have many leaders of men and women.

The under-16 girls won the county final last Tuesday with a hard fought win against Ballygarrett in Craanford. A strong first half paved the way for the girls, however Ballygarrett attacked hard in the second half but the Kilanerin girls stood strong, final score was Kilanerin 3-12 Ballygarrett 1-8 Joint Captains Elsa Hughes and Katlyn O’Connor received the cup to great celebrations, well done to everyone These girls now have a camogie county semi-final to look forward to next week.
