‘Salon of the Year’ award for Zen Beauty
ZEN Beauty Bar in Mallin Street, Wexford is in celebration mood after winning the title of South East Salon of the Year at the national Irish Hair and Beauty Awards.
Representatives of the popular salon attended a glamorous awards ceremony at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Dublin where the delighted winners were announced following a public vote.
Zen Beauty Bar has come a long way since co-owner and make-up artist Martina Carroll opened one of Wexford’s first nail and beauty salons in a small premises above a pharmacy on the Main Street in Wexford in 2004.
Martina consistently proved her mettle with a staunch base of delighted customers, excellent reviews and word-of-mouth referrals from all over County Wexford.
Expanding into new services such as the launch of Fake Bake tanning and Karaja make-up in the south east, she decided to move to a larger premises in Mallin Street (opposite Wexford Library) in 2008 and has been based in that convenient location ever since.
After employing additional assistants, Marian began a very successful partnership with therapist Marian Roche who has an indepth knowledge of skin care. The dynamic duo aligned themselves with the Dermalogica product range and have trained extensively with them and the International Dermal Institute in Dublin and in the UK.
Martina and Marian have been involved in many other ‘firsts’ and were the pair behind the arrival in Wexford of Shellac Nails, HD Brows and LVL Lash Lifting along with Philings Micro Needling, Threading and Embrowdery Brow treatments.
Responding to feedback from their clients, they realised there was a niche in the market for non-invasive cosmetic procedures and so began a series of lengthy courses and training at home and abroad which resulted in Marian becoming the first Philings artist in Wexford, qualified in PhiBrows Micro-Blading and Phillings Ion Plasma Skin Lifting.
In 2014, they added hair treatment to the services offered by the salon with Martina’s daughter Kristen Carroll specialising in colours, cuts and upstyling for wedding packages, making Zen Beauty Bar a One Stop Shop for the needs of loyal customers. Martina and Marian were delighted to accept the Beauty Salon of the Year South East Award. Accompanied at the event by members of staff, one of their first reactions was to thank their customers for all their support over the years.
