Whelan’s Pharmacy celebrates five years

-

WHELAN’S Pharmacy on St Michael’s Road in Gorey is celebrating five years in business.

The pharmacy was set up in 2013 by local couple Ed and Veronica Whelan, who currently employ seven staff.

The couple threw their doors open last week and held a coffee day to thank their loyal customers and hard-working staff for making the business a success. They also invited a Declaré representative who did free skin analysis on the day too.

Ed works as the pharmacist alongside Muireann Redmond, while his wife Veronica looks after the accounts and social media side of the business.

‘It was the first business we set up together,’ said Ed. ‘Before this I worked in the Sam McCauley group.’

The thriving town of Gorey is something Ed feels has contributed greatly to his business.

‘We are doing really well considering we are the ninth pharmacy in Gorey,’ said Ed. ‘For a town to be able to support nine pharmacies is a great town.’

Whelan’s Pharmacy is an independent business that has that little extra touch. ‘We like to go that extra mile to learn our customers names while also being of great value,’ he added.

The business has been nominated as a finalist in the ‘Pharmacy of the Year’ category in the inaugural Irish Independent Retails Awards, which will be held on Monday, October 1, in the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
